What have I been doing? Not writing, that's for sure!! The new job is wonderful, I am truly loving it and everyone I work with. I've been picking up hours and worked on another floor a couple days. Didn't realize how different my floor is until then, and I've gotta say, I like it.
We are a floor that tries new things and tests new programs, and that's kind of fun. Sure, it may cause a little stress when things first change, but it's nice to be able to identify the bugs and work out fixes right away, while they're still thinking about the program. Consider us the beta-testers of the medical world :)
I picked up a second job at McDonald's (In case I hadn't mentioned it before) because I know the job, it's right by my house, and I can just put in my hours and make up the difference in pay (changing from full-time to part-time takes a bite out of the paycheck). The more I pick up at the hospital, the fewer days I'm available to work at McD's. They may not like that but I do! Last month I worked a 17-day stretch between the two jobs and I got a bit cranky. I used to do that kind of stuff all the time, and with working and school the last few years, being busy and tired *all* the time is not new. I'm still applying for full-time positions, so hopefully I won't have to work both for much longer.
Aside from that I've been reading, knitting a cabled jacket (the one on the cover of Carol Feller's Contemporary Irish Knits), getting ready for both boys' birthdays (later this month!), getting ready for RJ to start his second year at MSU, painting the deck, and ripping out almost all of the shrubs from the front of my house... Whew, was that enough? Oh yeah, and my dad fixed my shed where the carpenter ants had eaten away and nested in a beam, and where the roof hadn't been put on right, causing a water leak. (no overhang, no tar paper under the shingles... thus the shingles were removed, overhang issue fixed, tar paper laid, and new shingles installed).
I've also come to the conclusion that I need to lose weight, my initial goal is 20 pounds by the end of the month.... I need to lose more than that, but a smaller goal is easier to focus on. My wardrobe is already moving in a better direction, less scruffy looking and more casual but dressy. I turn 41 this year and I intend to greet that birthday with a WOW! Woo-hoo for me!!
