I hate traffic!!

I seriously dislike driving in traffic. It doesn't even have to be heavy traffic. If there are more than 4 cars in a relatively short section of roadway, I don't really want to be one of them. People drive like idiots, as if they MUST get in front of every other car there, and they don't care how as long as they get there.

I've watched people cut down an exit lane to get further ahead of the traffic back-up right before construction, make a right turn in front of another car from the left lane, and weave in and out of three lanes of traffic trying to get ahead, only to end up way behind where they would have been had they stayed put in the first place. I've been almost run off the road by 50-something people talking on their cell-phones (NEVER ONCE has it been a teen on a cell phone doing any of this crap!), or by the guy in the Jaguar that apparently felt he was much more important than anyone else, and that I would certainly not mind him moving into my lane (when my car was right next to his driver's door, of course). Yeah sure. Jackass. Yes, I laid on the horn (which isn't easy when they aren't in the middle anymore). No, I did not flip him off. I'm classier than that! I did say a few specially-chosen words just for him. He earned them.

My drive home from work is heaven. At 3 a.m. there's only a few cars on the road, if any. The only slow-down through construction is the mandatory lowered speed-limits (except for the idiot the other night that was only going 30, he and I were the only cars for at least 3 miles, and no construction workers anywhere!). The only annoying thing at this time is the police vehicle lights at the beginning of the construction zones, those things are blinding!! If there's ever anything going on right there, I'll never know because the red & blue flashers are too bright and in-your-face when it's that dark out! There are no street lights there, so you go from the only light being your own headlights to flashers... I get it. I'm good with them being there, I certainly don't want anyone to get hit by a car, but I really wish they could dim those flashers!!

Enough ranting. Thank heaven I work an off-shift and I don't have to drive in rush-hour traffic downtown Grand Rapids. I'm sure I could not do that without my blood pressure skyrocketing and a need for medication. I prefer to stay drug-free, so if I have to go downtown I hope I get to keep an odd shift!
