Last week I....

Got a new job!! Yay!! It's part time, so I need to make up about 15 hours every two weeks for the difference between my current job and the new one. I'll be working 12 hour shifts instead of 8, so that will give me a little more free time to make up the hours too.

I'm going to be a unit secretary at Butterworth Hospital, in a position that's just newly created. I'm looking forward to starting there, and all the time I'm on orientation I will also be working full time, so at least I don't have to worry about making up hours just yet.

My CNA renewal is due now, and I have everything filled out and ready to go, I've just got to pick up a money order and send it in. I'm planning to keep that license, it will be a great way to make up hours with tons of places looking for aides all the time. Part time will be easy, and if I don't work for the same company they won't be worried about me passing the 40-hour-week mark.I'm also trained for medical transcription, and  I have an application out for that. Maybe I can get that as a work-from-home position, which would be even better. We shall see.

The new job still has benefits, so I don't have to worry about losing my insurance, and I will still be earning paid time off. All of my seniority transfers, as does my current vacation time, thanks to the fact that the new position is within the company I currently work for.

I've been looking for a new job since last November, so it was nice to finally have an offer and not just an interview. I've done at least a half-dozen interviews, but when everyone wants office experience it's hard to convince them to take a chance when I have none. Soon I will, yay!
