Sorry, needed a few days to finish the book "This is Your Brain on Music" by Daniel Levitin.
In a word, wonderful! It took me longer to read it because every time he named a song, I found myself singing it when I knew it. I also looked up a few on iTunes to see what he was referring to.
It's well written, with a lot of technical information presented very well for the average person. I'm not a neuroscientist or a musician, and the book was easy to read, easy to understand, and very entertaining.
I highly recommend this one, it has me listening for the beats & rhythms in music I like, explains some reasons I may dislike the music I dislike while others love it, and enlightened me to why music therapy can be valuable for brain injury patients. Yes, I knew there was value in music therapy, but now I know why!
I have a line-up of coworkers waiting to borrow this one!
