Finally figured out where all the water that was in my hallway came from, yay! I couldn't find a leak because it wasn't leaking all the time...
When I fixed my running toilet by replacing the ball cock, I didn't know I needed to put Teflon tape on the water inlet hose threads (I followed the directions in the package, it didn't say ANYTHING about that!). This resulted in a leak every time the toilet was flushed, but only while the water was running into the tank.
When I shut the water off to the tank, I didn't have any more water in the hallway (once it dried up) and when I turned the water back on to the tank (which I'd emptied to check the new gasket), I had water pouring down the flex line... AH-HA, culprit found!!!
Now, I have two bathrooms. This means that with Nate leaving for the week, and that being his bathroom, I didn't have to fix it right away. I left the water turned off and I didn't fix it. Now Nate is back, and I still haven't fixed it. Bad mom. Well, I would be if there wasn't another bathroom he could use. It's not that it's a hard fix, it's just that it's in a tight spot, disconnecting the hose means the little bit of water in the tank is going to drain out (making a mess) and I just don't feel like dealing with all that.
Such is life though, I'm just going to have to suck it up and go get it done...
