Over the past week I finished reading "Friendfluence," which was an excellent book overall. There were some parts that were hard to get through, but overall it was an excellent read that provided a lot of insight into my friends and myself. I've loaned that one out to a friend, we'll see what he makes of it.
Nate and I had a date night, we went to Fazoli's for dinner, because that's where we always go when we head to Kalamazoo, then we went to Kalamazoo Valley Museum for a documentary film "The Music Instinct: Science and Song." I was afraid partway through that he was bored (it was a 2-hour movie) and I told him he could take out his iPod, but he didn't.
Afterwards I asked him what he thought, he said it was very interesting. It's a great film, and if you get a chance to check it out I highly recommend it. It's about the meeting of neuroscience and music, hosted by Bobby McFerrin and Daniel Levitin. Bobby McFerrin is a musician, Daniel Levitin is a musician turned music producer turned neuroscientist.
Before going to the movie I had started reading the Dali Lama's book "The Universe in a Single Atom," but the movie reminded me of another book in my stack to be read, "This is Your Brain on Music." Turns out there's a good reason for that, it's written my Daniel Levitin. I'll let you know how it is, I've only just started and read the introduction.
Aside from that, we've had a water issue that I have no idea where the water came from, but for three days my hall carpet wound up soaking wet, and one day the bathroom was soaked too. It was worse during the day than at night, and had to visible source. It's no longer wet, but I still have no idea where it came from. I've been re-organizing my closet, and have taken down two hanging racks and put up shelves and moved a pants hanger that used to be in my laundry room into the closet. It's looking really nice and it's cost me next to nothing (the best part). Organization at home is a weak spot for me. I'm meticulously organized at work, it drives me nuts for things to be messy there, so why is it such a problem for me at home? Not sure I will ever figure that out...
