Books!

Way back in August I made a promise not to buy any more books for the rest of the year. The boys and I agreed that any books that were free didn't count against me, I just couldn't BUY a new book. The hope was that I would read the mound of books I own but haven't touched yet.
It was a good thought, and I've read a couple. I've also acquired a multitude of new free e-books, thanks to BookBub and Kindle Buffet, not to mention those I've found on my own on Amazon and Kobo. In an effort to encourage and motivate myself to get through some of these, I've signed up for a book challenge on My Reader's Block to read only books I own as of 12/31/14... I've registered my intent to read 36 books (Mt. Vancouver in the Mountian challenge). I believe I will now be reading on the bus on the way to/from work instead of knitting.

Because of the challenge, and to make my tracking easier, I signed up for an account at GoodReads. I added books I own but haven't read, rated ones I have read, and added tons more I want to read... I have over 250 books on that list, in just a day! That doesn't include all the books I own and haven't read, or all those I've finished. I'm not ambitious enough to take on that task!

I bought one knitting pattern booklet for me, the boys said that counted as buying a book. Dang! Oh well, the sweater was worth it :) RJ put "books" on his Christmas list, I pointed out I'm not allowed to buy books this year. He informed me it would be okay, since they aren't for me. Nate says it's still me buying a book and not allowed. Can you tell who doesn't want books for Christmas?

I also have another challenge list, I'm kinda curious how many books I will be able to check off both challenges this year. That one has random things to check off, and one is a book set in your hometown. That might be a bit difficult to check off, I might have to stretch it a bit.....
